SPLIT-FINGER FASTBALL another modification of the TWO-SEAMER . The fingers are split outside the narrow seams of the horseshoe with the thumb moved form under to the side. The split of the fingers changes the rotation slightly as well as decreasing the the # of rotations . The effect is a slightly off center rotation and a ball that dives sharply at or near the plate .

Split Fingered Fastball:

"Splitters " sink and move because of lack of lift and spin. It is a pitch that is hard on the arm and elbow and should be avoided by pitchers until after high school.
