The mechanical model set forth by thePitchingProf on this website is the result of countless hours of research, observation, study and experience. The model presents a methodology that will allow subjects to maximize power and accuracy while minimizing risk of injury

It should be well noted that while thePitchingProf details grips and releases (the how to) for a variety of pitches holding strongly to the belief that sound mechanics form the basis for success and longevity on the mound. It is highly recommended that all pitchers focus first on developing consistent mechanics . Learning to throw movement or oddball pitches should be held secondary to this.

Altho the delivery is largely a continuous motion it is more easily analyzed and described by breaking it down into Phases and further into individual freeze frames. Due to the continuous motion of the delivery there are no blatantly obvious starting and ending points for the phases. It is important to keep in mind that thePithcingProf assumes an overlap between each of the successive phases.
